Anyone who knows me knows that I love me some Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama.
Which is why I’m currently planning to dropkick my budget and splurge on the October issues of Essence and InStyle magazines, both of which feature my cool-aunty-in-my-head as the cover girl. I mean, look at alladis fineness, fabulosity and #BlackGirlMagic! (Shoutout to President O on the Essence cover as well.) It was almost too much for my eyes to behold, all of this #BlackExcellence. Phew!
I love cats. I’ve had them as pets since I was little. And one cat was never enough, so our house was always full of kittens. I love them so much that I basically helped liberate a wee stray kitty from Devon House because she had become separated from her mama, and the girl who found her said she couldn’t keep her, and I hesitated for only about 0.5 seconds before volunteering my home. I even follow a number of cat-related accounts on Twitter, and when friends tell me that I’m Grumpy Cat in human form, I consider it the highest compliment.
If you’ve read my first post, you will remember that I credited three sources of inspiration for my return to the blogosphere – Luvvie, my favourite blogger; Amelia, a fictional character in a romance novel; and my friend Janeth Benjamin, who took the bull by the horns and self-published a book. I also promised that she’d be the first person I featured in what I hope to be monthly interviews or profiles with some of the cool, interesting and enterprising people I know. So, here goes:
